Hi. I’m Brenda Thompson, a Registered Dietitian

and owner of Life Skills Nutrition. In this segment, I’m going to talk about calories

and calories from fat. If you look on this food label, this label tells us that there

are one hundred and twenty calories. Calories total the total number of fat, the total number

of carbohydrates, and the total number of proteins. How the one-hundred and twenty is

figured is that the total number of fat (nine calories are in one gram)…so if you take

the 3.5 grams times the nine calories, you get thirty-two calories from fat. And up here,

you’ll see that it says calories from fat equals thirty-five. Manufacturers can round

that up to a nice figure, which i s what this company did. So, they rounded it up to thirty-five,

when actually it is thirty-two. As long as it’s not under, it’s fine. Total carbohydrate

is twenty grams. There are four calories per gram of carbohydrate. So here, we took twenty

times four and that means we are getting eighty calories from carbohydrate. When you look

at protein, there are four. Just like carbohydrate, there are also four calories per gram of protein.

So you take the two grams times the four calories and you get eight calories. When you add up

all of these (the eight, plus the eighty, plus the thirty-two), then you get one hundred

and twenty calories. And that is how the manufacturers come up with the total number of calories

on the food label.

That's very interesting. I've never seen how that number is calculated…

Great vid thanks

wow. i didnt know this . thanks 🙂

your hot.

I DONT GET THIS!!! im sorry but u dont explain good

Good Job. 🙂

I don't think Brian Regan would like to wacth this. He eats more than 2 FIG NEWTONS!

Awesome video.. Thank you!

lmao! :'L

1 gr of Proteins = 4 calories

1 gr of Fats = 9 calories

1 gr of Carbs = 4 calories

2 g (protein) x 4 = 8 cal

3.5 (fat) x 9 = 32 (31.5) cal

20 g (carbs) x 4 = 80 cal

8 + 32 + 80 = 120 cal

Thank you so much it really helps

great job thanks 🙂

why the fuck would they round up? Thats stupid

Thanks alot

Thank you, thank you , thank you. You have no ideas that this means

please could you explain how to get percentage, for example 3.2g total fat and whats the percentage %?

Where do you get the number 4 from?
