Hi, my name is Tonya Zavasta. Do you know there is a way to slow down aging? It has everything to do with your metabolic rate.
It shows how fast your body assimilates food to energy for all its physiological processes.
As far back as early 1930’s, scientists, observing nature, saw that animals with faster
metabolic rates live shorter lives. But, less food, low calories, lead to longer life. Scientists
have been proving that calorie restriction slows down aging ever since.
One of the proponents of calorie restriction, Roy Walford, called such a diet plan Calorie
Restriction with Optimal Nutrition…CRON, for short. CRON animals not only live dramatically
longer but they experience fewer degenerative diseases and enjoy good health even later
in life. Gerontologists, scientists who study aging, do not doubt that calorie restriction
works for humans. But most researchers insist the public will never want to eat less to
live longer. So, while a simple solution stares us in the
face, much of the energy of science gets spent on looking for the super-drug…the ultimate
diet pill…the magic way to manipulate our genes…all in hopes to mimic the benefits
calorie restriction provides. I, on the other hand, choose to practice calorie restriction
on my day to day basis. And I have been doing so successfully for the past 12 years.
This calorie restriction…will it leave us starving? Anorexically thin? It might—if
you don’t know what you’re doing. So-called “starvation diets” do just that—they
starve your body. They’re downright dangerous. But CRON means, remember…Calorie Restriction
with Optimal Nutrition. You need to change not just how much you eat…but what you eat.
I assume you’re convinced and you will start eating less of the same cooked foods you’ve
always been eating? That’s a start. But it won’t carry you too far. You’ll simply
be eating less of a diet that isn’t very nutritious to begin with. Look at what I eat
on a typical day. My first meal of the day will be freshly squeezed vegetable juice—it
is made of celery, bok choy, zucchini, cucumbers, lemon, beet roots and an apple. I will also
have nuts that have been soaked overnight. This has been my breakfast for the past 12
years. At about 12 noon, I will make a delicious green pudding—the idea of combining fruits
and greens together I learned from my friend Victoria Boutenko—this green pudding is
made of two leaves of Swiss chard and a mango. And my last meal of the day will be a salad.
All the best vegetables you can find—tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, green onions, leek,
cabbage and lots of organic greens. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but you know what?
I’m well-nourished…satisfied…and I don’t feel hungry!
Researchers caution us that calorie restriction is not for children or young people. But I
started to practice calorie restriction at the age of 40 and I have enjoyed great results.
Today at 52 I have no menopause symptoms…never have I had a hot flash. My close up vision
is perfect…I sleep like a baby. And in the past 12 years not once have I had a headache,
and never have I had a cold or the flu. If you look at what I eat, you will notice everything
is 100% raw. Raw freshly squeezed vegetable juice, raw green pudding, raw nuts and raw
salad. Calorie restriction works but it is enjoyable and works the best when you do it
on the raw foods. Let’s get real…I cannot promise you’ll
look twenty again. But I can promise you: you will avoid or reverse the distortions
of old age. Educate yourself. Start on your own intelligent raw food journey, be sure
you are not missing on any nutrients, and soon you’ll begin looking like a young
adult. No more bags under your eyes…no double chin…no excessive wrinkles. At 52, my waist
is 3 inches smaller than it was when I got married 30 years ago. And I have the body
proportions of a healthy 18 year-old…and I can match their flexibility.
My menu is simple. You can see it. But it’s not easy. You’ll have to make your
move gradually, as I did. Here’s one tip for you. Instead of just removing one food
item from you menu, replace it with a raw food alternative. You must eat better before
you eat less. You’re fooling yourself if you are trying to get by on a cup of coffee
and a doughnut till supper time. Your body is a miracle of adaptability. You will see
it. In time, you will enjoy this lifestyle immensely.
But if you are looking for a quick fix? Forget it—you will be disappointed. It took me
several years to embrace calorie restriction on raw foods, comfortably. It is not about
replacing an organ…it’s not about a nip here or a tuck there. It’s about getting
honest—honest about eating, honest about exercise. It’s about getting younger on
cellular level. It’s about revealing your rawsome beauty. When your external appearance
proclaims your internal health. This is Tonya Zavasta. Thank you for watching. Be sure to
